Outlook 2024

Future Pensions Act

The first half of 2024 is dominated by negotiations between employers and works councils (together the social partners). They must decide what the new pension scheme will look like, when it will take effect, and whether or not current pensions will be converted to the new scheme. The interest association of pensioners and former employees (the GBC) is involved during this process.

Once the social partners have reached an agreement, SPIN will consider whether we can implement the agreements and whether we are willing to do so. We will then assess whether the value of already accrued pensions can be preserved for all participant groups.

As previously reported, the law is a reality. Therefore, we will continue on the path we have taken. If anything changes there, you will of course hear from us.

New authority on pension complaints

A new national contact point for pension disputes will start next year. This new body is independent and will start January 1, 2024. However, SPIN will remain your first point of contact if you have a complaint.

So if you have a complaint: contact SPIN first. Then together we will see if we can find a good solution. Has your complaint not been handled to your satisfaction by SPIN? Then you can still contact the national point of contact. This arbitration body is independent, impartial, expert and easily accessible. The Pensions Ombudsman will soon be part of this body.

Help with retirement choices

When you retire, you can make several choices for your retirement. To make this a little easier, we’re coming out with a new digital tool next year: the choice tool.

With a number of questions, the decision aid guides you through the various pension choices. This allows you to quickly see the pros and cons of all possible choices. The decision aid also tells you which options cannot be chosen together.

After consulting the decision aid, you will have a good idea of the choices that suit you best. You can calculate the financial consequences in our PensionPlanner. Later you can use the decision aid as often as you want.

SPIN Monitor

It’s time again in 2024 for our satisfaction survey, the SPIN Monitor. How satisfied are you with our services? What is already going well and what can be improved? We would love to hear from you!

As soon as you are able to complete the SPIN Monitor, we will send you an invitation.

Lump sum amount

In our newsletters you have already read about the lump sum. With the lump sum you can have part – maximum 10% – of your accrued pension (capital) paid out at once. You can only choose the lump sum at the moment you retire. For more information go to our frequently asked questions.

However, the introduction of “lump sum” has again been delayed. The new pension choice will now take effect Jan. 1, 2025, at the earliest.
