Summer 2025: Transition Plan
The arrangements for the new pension plan were written out in a “so-called” transition plan. The transition plan describes what the new pension plan will look like. What choices IBM made and why.
Good to know, IBM has opted not to transfer existing pensions to the new pension rules (“raises”). Therefore, if you are already receiving a pension or no longer work at IBM, nothing will change. Are you incapacitated? Negotiations are ongoing on what retirement and disability will look like after Jan. 1, 2028.
End of 2025: The transition plan is reviewed
SPIN is in the process of reviewing IBM’s transition plan for the new pension plan. For each point, we look carefully at the impact on everyone. We create an implementation and communication plan.
Early 2026: How will we implement the new rules
Our implementation and communication plan will then be ready. This outlines how we will work with the new rules for retirement. And how we will transition to the new pension plan. We submit the implementation plan and communication plan to regulators DNB and AFM. They must give their approval.
In 2026: You will get more explanations
We’ll tell you more about what the new pension plan will look like starting Jan. 1, 2028. What changes and what stays the same.
In 2027: Step by step to the new pension
We prepare the transition well. And make our systems future-proof. Does anything change for you? Then you will receive your personalized calculations in 2027.
2028: New rules for retirement go into effect
