Transition plan ready by Jan. 1, 2025

Update December 11, 2024

Currently, IBM and the works council are still discussing what the changes in pension rules mean for pensions at SPIN. They are laying down these agreements in a transition plan. This plan is not yet ready. The absence of the transition plan has no consequences for you. For the time being, nothing will change in terms of your pension accrual or benefits. Fortunately, we still have some time. The latest date by which the new pension plan must take effect according to the Future Pensions Act is January 1, 2028.

————————————————————————————————————————————-

IBM and the Works Council have not yet published a transition plan. However, the preliminary decision has been made that the future pension will be accrued under the flexible plan. This is broadly similar to the current DC plan. Once the negotiations are fully completed, SPIN will examine whether the agreements in the transition plan can be implemented. By January 1, 2025 at the latest, the transition plan should be ready.
