Reappointment of board member pensioners

Board member Rinus Verloop sits on the SPIN board on behalf of pensioners. He is available for a third term. But you can also register yourself as a candidate.

Since 2016, Rinus Verloop has served on the SPIN board as a board member on behalf of pensioners. His second three-year term expires in 2022. Rinus has expressed interest in continuing for another term. Other candidates who consider themselves suitable may also apply as candidates.

SPIN believes it is very important that the board is a good reflection of all stakeholders, both in terms of age and gender. We would therefore especially like to call on women to apply.

Would you like to run as a board member for pensioners?

If you wish to run as an opposing candidate, we ask that you first complete the profile (available from SPIN) and assess whether you meet the job profile. Please note that the time commitment for this position is at least 1 day per week. If you think you meet it, you can apply by sending a letter with motivation to SPIN, P.O. Box 342, 1180 AH Amstelveen. Please note: your application must reach us before 1 February.

In the abridged election procedure (available from SPIN) tells you how it proceeds. Part of the procedure includes having the board review all registered candidates for suitability. This requires pension knowledge and knowledge of and sufficient familiarity with board functioning that will enable them to be effective as directors after appointment.

After winning in the elections, the candidate board member is also tested by De Nederlandse Bank (DNB). The test looks at whether the candidate is suitable, i.e. has sufficient knowledge and experience of pensions and governance and shows professional behavior. DNB also tests whether the candidate is reliable. Managing a pension fund obviously entails considerable responsibility; therefore, the candidate must also know the ins and outs and have integrity before being approved as a board member.

If there are no opposing candidates, we will not hold elections.
