On July 1, 2023, the Future Pensions Act went into effect. What is in store for you now? When will you hear what the new law means for you personally and how will we keep you informed?
This page will be the central place where you will find the answers to those questions in the coming years. Even though we don’t know exactly what the scheme at SPIN will look like at this point: you will find the information here about what to expect.
Do you work at IBM?
The target effective date of the Wtp agreements is Jan. 1, 2028. You will receive more information about the changes from IBM. If you do have questions now, please contact AskHR and include in the subject line of the ticket: 2025 pension agreements.
Kyndryl has further elected not to convert the SPIN pensions accrued until January 1, 2025 to the new pension plan. The exception is the accrued DC pension. Kyndryl will apply to transfer the accrued DC pension to BeFrank in 2025. You will automatically receive further information about this from Kyndryl and then also from us.
In the meantime, do you no longer work at IBM or Kyndryl, or are you already receiving a pension from SPIN?
We list the most important arrangements for you below.
- The accrued Defined Contribution (DC) capital will not be converted to a new plan (there will be no “rafting in”). SPIN will continue to manage the accrued pensions;
- The accrued Defined Benefit (DB) pension will also not be converted to a new plan (there will be no “rafting in”). Accrued DB entitlements remain intact, including the top-up guarantee from IBM and Kyndryl. SPIN will continue to manage and pay out accrued pensions in the current manner;
- Current allowance schemes 1, 2 and 3 remain unchanged.
More information on exactly what the agreement entails will follow later. The basis for the new agreements is that no one will lose out because of the Wtp. You can find your former employer’s transition plan on MySPIN.
Follow-up steps for IBM and SPIN
All agreements between IBM and the COR have been recorded in a transition plan. After consultation with the GBC, the transition plan has been presented to SPIN. You can find the transition plan on My SPIN. We will now assess whether we can implement the agreements made. Regulators DNB and AFM must ultimately also give their approval. The target effective date of the Wtp agreements is January 1, 2028.
Before all decisions are final, read about expected timelines and next steps on this page. You will find questions and answers on this page. Also on this page you will find a timeline with the most important moments in decision-making and communication. We will also keep you informed through our digital newsletter in the coming years.
Current political situation future pension system
The House of Representatives has postponed the transition deadline to Jan. 1, 2028. This deadline had been set at Jan. 1, 2027. There was also discussion about Agnes Joseph’s (NSC) amendment, which seeks to give participants the right of consent on the boarding. The amendment did not pass. For SPIN, however, this is of no consequence because both IBM and Kyndryl have decided not to sail in.
Proposal to postpone transition deadline to Jan. 1, 2028 is before the Senate
